Artistic Creations by Kerrigan Gaither
I have been passionate about art since I was very young. As a small child, we lived in Australia where I had my own kid-sized art studio. I also lived in Nigeria for 4 years. Since supplies were scarce, I learned about arts and crafts, making use of recycled and up-cycled materials. We returned to the US in 2015 where I was able to study my art more intently. I took instructional classes several times a week during the school year and also over the summer. In 2019, I was accepted to Kinder HSPVA - the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston where I study painting, drawing, photography, and ceramics. I will graduate in 2023.
Below are some samples of my work. My work can also be found on Instragram here:

Harvey the Flood Bug (17)
In 2018, I was given an opportunity to try a type of canvas I had never considered before - a car. Actually it was a 2000 Volkswagen Beetle that had flooded during Hurricane Harvey. Some friends of my parents had decided to take part in a car race for charity. The race is modeled after a famous luxury car race in Le Mans, France called “24 hours of Le Mans”. The race that took place in Houston is a parody of the real race and is called ‘24 hours of Lemons” because the drivers can not spend more than $500 on the car. Our friends invited me to decorate the car for the race. They had purchased it from a junkyard in Houston and spent months fixing the engine and bringing it back to life. They named the car “Harvey the Flood Bug” and said that I could come up with the design myself and paint it however I wanted which was exciting. I hope you like what I created! -
Instructional Pieces - Classroom Work (37)
Work created through instructional classes 2017- present, including work done at HSPVA in Houston. In addition to the traditional high school curriculum, I study and practice my art 3 hours every day. I take over 8 classes per term including pre-AP classes. -
