paperwork!
The paperwork required for the Nigerian visa was a bear! Plus you can't renew children's passports, you have to start all over. The kids were quite patient- esp since they got out of school early!

Pack-Out, Day 1
This is the truck that came to the house on the first day - it brings all the packing materials and then takes away the Air Shipment and the items we chose to put in storage.
-
Pack-Out, Day 2
This is the 40 ft container that actually hauls our stuff to Lagos. Pretty amazing!

Black History Program
K had her first play the day the packers came. It was stressful to help her prepare for the show and get the house ready for the move. She was Bessie Mae Smith, the famous Blues singer. The whole program was about famous black people in history and there was even an African dance - fitting!

Big Sis knows best
My big sis taught me this - whenever you enter a new home for the 1st time or vacate a home for the last time, always leave some toilet paper! Not only will you need it for the many re-visits (realtors, cleaning, inspections,) but the next person will thank you for it!

pampered pedi
As a special treat for K and all her little friends, we had a mani-pedi party at a local salon. They got juice boxes, a video system, head phones, manicures and princess pedicures- complete with toe rings!

"Vacancy"
We brought the kids by the house after it was entirely packed out. I always think it is a bit sad but in true childlike fashion, the kids started yelling with joy because of the echo and seemed thrilled to run through the living room with mom's permission!

Girls Day Out
Kerrigan got to take her little mates for "Princess Pedi's" as a special farewell party. We stopped at my favorite kid-friendly Tex Mex joint - Goode Company Taqueira before hand. The girls get to make wishes and the Moms get margaritas!
