Halloween 2013 - 4
These are some of my best gal pals in Lagos - it's hard to even verbalize how much they mean to me and how much fun we have together. Dressing up for Halloween and talking about every day things provides a bit of normalcy in an abnormal environment!

Nigerian Cultural Day 2013 - 7
My friend Jacqueline (far right) bought me the hot pink/zebra Nigerian cloth for my birthday and my nanny's brother in law sewed it for me. A hit!
-
Nigerian Cultural Day 2013
The American School hosts an annual party to celebrate Nigerian Independence Day (Oct 1). Teachers, students, and families wear traditional dress - a wonderful show of support for our city!

AWC Tea - 2013
The American Women's Club holds their Annual Membership Tea in September at the Lagos Yacht Club - it is a really lovely event and everyone wears Red, White and Blue. My friends who are on the Board all wore the same Nigerian fabric made into various dresses. It was a really unique show of unity for American women in Lagos.

Suzi's Soiree
Our friend Suzi's birthday has traditionally been a big night out since it happens just after the school year starts and all our friends are back in town. Here, we are at the Radisson Blu hotel - one of the newer spots around town with sunset views along the lagoon.
-
Suzi's Soiree - 2
These are a few of my true "besties" here in Lagos. Three of us have kids at the school and my other friend works in Lagos for an online fashion retail company. I am constantly amazed at how many entrepreneurial women have businesses here!
-
Table Cloth Toga!
The girls and I got invited to a "Table Cloth Haute Couture" party - ie a tablecloth toga party. Wherever you go, locals are selling batik tablecloths, at markets and on the beach so they are abundant and beautiful. It was a blast and really brought out the creative side in everyone there!
-
Big 40 - 3
This pic was massive and I lost some ladies outside the frame. I have amazing friends!
-
Big 40 - 2
More birthday bubbles!
-
Big 40 - 1
My best gal pals helped me celebrate my big 40th birthday - the only way we knew how.. with champagne on a weekday whilst the kids are at school!
-
Thirsty Thursdays
My friend told us her house was a mess and she needed to throw a party in order to clean up! We were there all morning until the inevitable school pick-up hour!
-
Back to school 2013
Most of my friends will admit that coming back to Lagos after an indulgent summer at home is hard, until you see your friends. Nothing like it.
-
Ladies who Lunch - March 2013
This week marks a year since I moved to Lagos and I have to say, I have made some fabulous friends since I got here!
-
St. Party's Day!
A bunch of us went out for St. Patrick's Day. Sadly we had to go to a Tex Mex place bc there had been some security threats around the other places we wanted to go. No matter - we still wore our green!
-
Back to School - August 2012
A few of us got together before school started since the kids had cabin fever waiting for everyone else to get back to town. Let's face it, so did we!
-
Caufee Tawk - May 2012
A lot of my friends have kids in the pre-K group which doesn't start till 930am so its easy to go get a coffee together after drop-off. There are lots of restaurants and hotels by the water, which is a much needed break from the busy streets and shops.
-
GNO - May 2012
A few of us met at The Radisson Hotel on Victoria Island - a great place with a huge patio. During the day it's a bit too hot but in the evening, it was lovely. A rare treat in an open space with a breeze off the lagoon.
-
Chevy Chicks
The Chevron girls actually came to Ikoyi for a pool party. It's a bit of a hike from their "camp" to our side of town but it is always worth it!
-
No School = Pool
The kids didn't have school for 2 days in a row for the Ramadan celebrations so our friend Mel offered her gorgeous pool for a playdate
-
Freedom!
A bunch of my friends and I went out to lunch on the 1st real day of school - it was so nice to just sit and chat without kids tugging at us constantly!
-
Feeling Fine at 39
This was taken at my friend's house and it was also my birthday. I usually bring cupcakes for the kids but this time I brought champagne for the moms!
-
Tricky Treat!
This really does not require an explanation but it does show I have a really fun crew of gal pals!
-
Lagos Wine Club
I think the subject line says it all.

Farewell Mel - 1
We all had our pics taken as a farewell gift for our friend Mel, but honestly we all loved it so much, it was a huge gift for everyone.
-
Farewell Mel - 2
My friend Mona in the front is actually from Massachusetts. We went to sister-schools in the private school sector and have friends in common. We even moved to Lagos within a few months of each other. crazy.
-
Farewell Mel - 3
All of us were at the studio together but we couldn't fit in the room so the photographer (an expat partner) shot groups of 4 and then photoshopped them together. Brilliant!
